three whole years

On this day three years ago I woke up early in the morning feeling ready to start the rest of my life. On any other day that may have seemed pretty random, but this was a different, special day-- this was my wedding day. This was the day I had dreamed about since I was a little girl.

I was finally getting to marry the love of my life with the wedding of my dreams.

Fast forward to this day. I'm sitting in our beautiful home remembering the feelings I had this same time three years ago with our son playing in front of me with his toys. Our Rougie girl is cuddled up next to me on the couch and I am still so honored to be his bride.

I'll always be his bride.

We made that covenant with God in front of all our family and friends in our church on that beautiful day. The same place Henry would kick me when he would hear the organ play on Sunday morning.

God's ways are so beautiful and faithful to provide. He's provided us with so many blessings.

The man I married is absolutely amazing. I am more in love with him today than the day we got married.

I love you, Caleb. Happy Anniversary!

henry's first picnic

we headed out to one of our favorite spots (especially this time of year!) for henry's first picnic. he played and slept and played some more so i'd consider it a success! caleb read his strategy + business magazine while henry played with a bag by crunching it in his hands and listening to the sound it made. He also enjoyed checking out rouge's leash. rouge and i walked around some and relaxed while the boys did their thing. i'm looking forward to many more picnics this fall!

sunday afternoon

sweet potatoes

Henry enjoyed his first food, sweet potatoes, on September 4th. He absolutely loved them! We have been using them each day since then in small amounts and increasing the amount each day. So far he's doing really well with it. I didn't even have to use a bib today because he is so neat, haha!

Update: Since then Henry has had green peas and bananas and he seems to devour every bite!

first unc game

henry enjoyed his first acc football game from the comfort of his living room, haha. we wish we could have cheered them to victory as a family but it was a little someone's bedtime (and the fact that they lost after fighting to the end.) but it was exciting to have henry join us in something we love!

rice cereal

Henry had his first bite of rice cereal on September 1st at a little over 4.5 months. The first time he took it he seemed confused but he tried it and each day since then the consistency has been thicker and he's doing extremely well with it! He has a bowl of organic brown rice cereal each night before he goes to bed. He looks like such a big boy to me!

roll to the side

last week around late august henry learned that if he raises his feet high enough in the air he can roll to his side! i was so blessed to be able to see him do this for the first time. these pictures are from that first afternoon when he learned to roll to his side. he is happier now that he can get to more of his toys than before and this week he's so much faster at it already!
henry has recently started some solids (more on that!) but I wanted to make sure and document him holding his own bottle before I forget! how sweet are those little baby hands?

play

Henry's favorite toys right now are his links. I have them tucked away in various places for him. He loves any kind of toy that intertwines right now. He has an eye for his winkel and his skwish toys too. He will study the lines and shapes for a long time and enjoys chewing on them.
