Henry at One Month

Henry, here's what you are doing at one month old.

Your one month well check up is on Tuesday so we don't know your official weight yet, but I'd say you have packed on some weight and height over the past few weeks. At your two week appointment, you had gained back your birth weight of 8 lbs. 9 oz. and lately you're newborn outfits are getting shorter on your long legs and through the stride. You can even fit into some 3 month clothes, but they're on the smaller end. You're our growing boy!

You eat every 3 hours during the day and about every 5 hours each night. Some nights you've gone 5-7 hours between feedings, but that's only happened a handful of times.

You're such a good sleeper (when you want to be asleep!) You love sleeping in your crib, bassinet, stroller, and car seat. Lately, your stroller and riding in the car have put you to sleep more often than they used to.

We usually have one to two outfit changes a day.

You love your paci. And you have a meltdown when it falls out. I wish there was a way to attach it to your face so it would never fall out, haha. I'd be a wealthy mommy! You get really worked up when your Daddy or I don't get it back in your mouth fast enough for you so you'll try to suck on your fingers instead, but you don't quite get the concept and will try to stick your whole hand in your mouth! Sometimes you will pull out your own paci by mistake and you don't like that either! Did I mention you love your paci???

You are your happiest when you're being held. And bounced gently in our arms. And have a paci in your mouth. And if all three are going on at the same time you are in HEAVEN! Your Mommy and Daddy love to hold you and so does the rest of your fan club! You love being held as much as you can get it so I have used the babybjorn carrier we borrowed from your friend, Emma Grace, since you love being so close and it gives my arms a break to do other things for you and your Daddy around the house.

Your Daddy and I have seen you go through more and more (and more!) diapers as the weeks go by.

You love to look at lights, ceiling fans, faces, black and white pictures and toys, and check out yourself in the mirror. You love to run your hand across the quilted liner of your bassinet when I lay you in it. You have started to hold onto my necklaces or shirts if your head is on my shoulder. You also love to be held this way for a nice change of scenery. You will turn your head from side to side and look around and up at the ceiling when we walk through the house. You will rest your head on your little hand and just look at me and I love it.

You love all the sounds of being outside and will quiet down if you're fussy once we walk outside. You love to go on walks in your stroller and we love it too! You like to ride in the car and will start crying when we stop at a light or stop sign in the beginning of the drive, and then quiet down once we start moving again, but by the time we get to our destination you are usually fast asleep.

You've been to Target, the mall, the art museum, out to eat with your Mommy and Daddy, and through the Starbucks drive thru in your little life. We can't wait to take you to church with us soon!

You have outgrown your newborn outfits and are now wearing 0-3 month clothes.

You have deep, dark blue eyes and light brown hair (that has lightened since your first days in the hospital) and in the sunlight your hair has a slight red tint to it.

You love being in your bouncer/rocker. Sometimes you like the vibration, but other times you look around unsure of why you're shaking and it makes us laugh. But you really like being held the best.

You are a happy, laid back, easy baby and we love that about you! You have made this first month pretty easy on your parents and we feel very thankful for you.

We pray for you each day.

We've done tummy time many times with you and you do well when you're propped up on your Boppy pillow. One time you held your head up for almost a minute straight!

You smile at us when you're sleeping. Its the cutest grin I think I've ever seen!

I watched you roll from your back to your side on your one month birthday!

We love you, Hen, and we can't wait to see what you'll do next!
